Services - Network Monitoring

For businesses with servers and networks we offer offsite monitoring so that you know your systems are operating properly.

Past experience has shown us that regular monitoring and maintenance substantially reduces on-site work, with a resultant reduction in costs to our network clients.

We offer three levels of service: BRONZE, SILVER and GOLD. While all service levels offer value for money, obviously the higher level of service offers greater protection in terms of risk minimisation.

All service levels allow for provision of monitoring services remotely. This reduces the interruption to your staff and their working day, and also allows us to complete the work out of office hours. This affords us with faster response times from your server, thereby allowing us to cover more work in the allotted time.

Network monitoring services for the workstations to be serviced may require that they are left on over-night. IT Resolve will contact you by phone should this be required and you would need to remind staff to leave their computer on at the end of the working day.

 


Network Monitoring – Bronze Level

This level provides for monitoring of the network in your single server network. It is suitable for networks that include:

  • Microsoft Server Standard Edition (versions 2003 and 2008).
  • Microsoft Small Business Server (versions 2003 and 2011).

The following items are monitored:

SERVER

  • Server Application Event Log – monitoring for errors and warnings, and the investigation of issues discovered.
  • Server Security Event Log – monitoring for errors and warnings, and the investigation of issues discovered.
  • Server System Event Log – monitoring for errors and warnings, and the investigation of issues discovered.
  • Server anti-virus updates and breaches.
  • Microsoft System Updates – application of automatically downloaded updates.

WORKSTATIONS

  • Monitoring and Management of Anti-Virus updates and applications – includes checking quarantined files and adjustment of SPAM filters if necessary.

Network Monitoring – Silver Level

This level provides for monitoring of the network in your single or dual server network. It is suitable for networks that include:

  • All items included in the Bronze Level.
  • Microsoft Exchange Server.
  • Access to Microsoft Outlook over HTTP.
  • Staff Remote Access.

The following items are monitored:

SERVER

  • All items included in the Bronze Level.
  • Server DNS Event Log – monitoring for errors and warnings, and the investigation of issues discovered.
  • Server Directory Service Event Log – monitoring for errors and warnings, and the investigation of issues discovered.
  • Server File Replication Event Log – monitoring for errors and warnings, and the investigation of issues discovered.
  • Exchange Server Alerts – establish and monitor alerts appropriate to Exchange server.

WORKSTATIONS

  • All items included in the Bronze Level.
  • Microsoft System Updates – monitor and check automatically downloaded and applied updates.

Network Monitoring – Gold Level

This level provides for monitoring of the network in your single or multiple server network. It is suitable for networks that include:

  • All items included in the Silver Level.
  • Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Virtual Private Networking (software or hardware).
  • External equipment or systems attached to the network (e.g. Weather systems, Weighbridge systems, Remote PDA systems, Health systems, Gaming systems, etc.).

The following items are monitored:

SERVER

  • All items included in the Silver Level.
  • Hardware Performance Log (on available servers e.g. HP) monitoring for errors and warnings, and the investigation of issues discovered.
  • SQL Server Log – monitoring for errors and warnings, and the investigation of issues discovered.
  • Defragmentation of Hard Disk Drives – defragmentation of RAID drive systems.
  • Error event email advice to local administrator – establishment, configuration and monitoring.

WORKSTATIONS

  • All items included in the Silver Level.
  • Monthly Hard Disk Defragmentation.
  • Workstation Security Event Log – monitoring for errors and warnings, and the investigation of issues discovered.
  • Workstation Application Event Log – monitoring for errors and warnings, and the investigation of issues discovered.
  • Workstation System Event Log – monitoring for errors and warnings, and the investigation of issues discovered.

Please Note:

  • Network monitoring services are monitoring services; not on-site repair or installation services; not response services.
  • The aim of the network monitoring service is to reduce the likelihood of problems before they occur and to ensure that secure access and data integrity is maintained.
  • Scheduling of regular server re-boots, buffer and cache clearing and service restarts are established to minimise downtime and to maintain performance.
  • Events such as large-scale security breaches, corrupted data stores, backup integrity, backup restoration, roll-back from Microsoft Updates, hardware failure and other events of similar scope are not included in network monitoring.
  • Backup or replacement hardware is not included in network monitoring.
